Why it is on Halloween this year
The council has moved the display a week earlier than usual so that it does not clash with Remembrance Sunday on 8 November. It has made a feature of the date: the show is billed as a “spooky spectacular” and the council is asking children and adults to come in Halloween costume. The display itself is by MLE Pyrotechnics, a Northamptonshire firm, and is set to music the council describes as “golden oldies and the latest hits”.
For the last two years the display was on the first Saturday in November: 1 November in 2025 and 2 November in 2024, according to the council’s own announcements (2025, 2024). Same venue, same 6pm gates and 7.30pm start on both nights.
Bonfire Night itself, Thursday 5 November, has no organised display in Daventry.
What to expect on the night
There is a bag check at the entry gate, so the council asks people to allow time to get in before the 7.15pm cut-off. Hot food and drink stalls run from 6pm to 9pm: burgers, hot dogs, cakes and candy floss, plus hot drinks. The stalls are on hard standing and are wheelchair accessible. The general viewing area is the school’s grass field, so boots are a better bet than trainers.
The school site rules, as published by the council:
- no sparklers and no fireworks of your own
- no smoking or vaping
- no alcohol
- no dogs, apart from registered assistance dogs
- no large bags
Parking and getting there
There is no parking at the school. The council asks visitors to use the free public car parks in town and to walk in, and not to park in the residential streets around Ashby Road. Its two suggestions:
| Car park | Address | Walk to the event | Council’s note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Old Gasworks | Brook Street, NN11 9HN | 9 minutes | spaces usually available |
| Chaucer Way | Chaucer Way, NN11 9DD | 8 minutes | gets very busy early on |
A handful of disabled parking spaces are available on site, first come first served, and only by booking through the council’s online form, which goes live at 10am on Monday 12 October. The conditions are strict: check in with the door supervisor at the Ashby Road entrance, show your Blue Badge and display it on the dashboard, and accept that you cannot move the car until the crowd has left the site on foot, because the vehicle exit crosses the pedestrian route. There is a hard-standing disabled viewing area inside.
