Sunday 8 November: service at All Saints' Church 10am, silence at the war memorial garden 11am. Parade route and road closures still to come. Daventry too.
Remembrance Sunday 2026 is Sunday 8 November. Armistice Day is the Wednesday after, 11 November.
Northampton marks it with a military parade and a church service in the town centre, at All Saints’ Church and the Town & County War Memorial Garden, organised by Northampton Town Council with the Royal British Legion and All Saints’ Church. Serving personnel, veterans and cadets take part.
What the council has confirmed
Updated 30 September: the town council’s events listing, updated 21 September, now gives the service at All Saints’ Church at 10am and the memorial garden at 11am.
The council’s events listing puts the service at All Saints’ Church at 10am and the act of remembrance at the Town & County War Memorial Garden at 11am. Its Remembrance page, last updated on 12 August, gives the order of the day:
- The commemorations open with a parade and a divine church service
- A wreath-laying ceremony follows
- The Last Post is sounded, then the two-minute silence at 11am
- The memorial garden stays open afterwards so anyone can lay a wreath and pay their respects
- A final parade and a military salute close the proceedings
The Remembrance page still ends with “further event details will be announced nearer the time”. No parade start time, no route and no road closures have been published for this year. In past years that detail has arrived in the second half of October.
How it ran the last two years
This is precedent rather than a timetable for 2026, but the shape has been stable.
2025, per West Northamptonshire Council’s Remembrance round-up of 22 October: the parade stepped off from the Market Square at 9.30am, the divine service at All Saints’ was at 10am, wreath-laying followed in the memorial garden, the silence was at 11am, and the parade re-assembled at about 11.45am.
2024, per the equivalent release, added the route. The parade left the Market Square at 9.30am and went down The Drapery, pausing for the service at All Saints’ at 10am, which included a Poppy Appeal collection. Wreath-laying started at 11am in the Town and County War Memorial garden behind the church on Wood Hill, with the Last Post and the silence at 11am. At 11.45am the parade re-formed and marched via Mercers Row, George Row and St Giles Square, past the Guildhall, to salute the Lord-Lieutenant of Northamptonshire and the Mayor of Northampton, ending on Derngate.
Those streets, the Market Square, The Drapery, Wood Hill, Mercers Row, George Row, St Giles Square and Derngate, are the ones to expect closed on the Sunday morning. Nothing has been advertised for 8 November 2026, and we will not guess at times. Our roadworks and travel page carries the live register, and the parking guide covers the town centre car parks, which are the sensible option if the central streets are shut.
Elsewhere in West Northamptonshire
The council’s 2025 round-up also gave these, and each has run to the same pattern for years. Check the relevant town or parish council before travelling, because none has published 2026 timings yet.
- Daventry: parade steps off at 10.30am from the High Street outside Argos and processes to the War Memorial for the service, followed by a church service at Holy Cross at 11.30am. On Armistice Day there is a short service at 11am at the top of Sheaf Street, outside the Post Office.
- Towcester: the service is at St Lawrence Church, with attendees asked to be seated by 10.30am for a 10.50am start.
- Brackley: the parade marches from Winchester House down the High Street to the War Memorial at 2.30pm, with the service at 3pm followed by wreath-laying.
- Brixworth: a walk leaves the Library and Community Centre at 10am for an outdoor family service at All Saints’ at 10.30am, then the silence at the memorial at 11am.
