West Northants Planning This Week: 89 Applications Listed

West Northamptonshire Council’s planning list for the week of 21 September has 89 entries so far. The ones most people will care about are a large new warehouse by the M1 at Crick, solar panels for the Royal & Derngate, and small housing schemes in West Haddon and Weedon.

The list is the council’s own weekly list of applications it has registered, taken from the planning register on 25 September. More may be added before the week ends.

The ones that matter

A 30,857 sq m warehouse by M1 Junction 18, Crick. Developer Stoford Gallan has asked the council whether it needs a full environmental impact assessment for a logistics building on 11.74 hectares next to Costco’s distribution centre. Its letter says it intends to submit a full planning application. The nearest homes in Crick are about 330m from the site boundary. This is a screening request, not the application itself, so there is nothing to comment on yet. (2026/3586/SCRN, request letter of 17 August)

Royal & Derngate, Guildhall Road, Northampton. The theatres want to replace roof felt, fit a fall-arrest system and add a roof-mounted solar array. Because the building is listed, there are two applications. Comments are due by 22 October. (2026/3596/FULL and 2026/3777/LBC)

Nine homes off Crick Road, West Haddon. A new road access and a drainage pond are included. Comments are due by 16 October, with a target decision date of 9 November. (2026/3401/FULL)

Up to eight homes at Manor Farm, Bridge Street, Weedon. This is a “permission in principle” application, which settles only whether homes are acceptable on the land. Details would come later. Comments are due by 12 October. (2026/3710/PIP)

A house into three flats, Farraxton Square, West Hunsbury. The plan would convert 11 Farraxton Square into three one-bedroom flats. Comments are due by 18 October. (2026/3680/FULL)

The Lings Park temporary homes, Weston Favell. The council has applied for a non-material change to a condition on its own 38-unit modular scheme off Birds Hill Way. We reported in September that the homes are nearly finished. (2026/3729/NMA)

Also on the list

• Towcester: a change to the approved plans for the A5 employment site north of Bell Plantation, which includes land for Towcester Town Football Club (2026/3700/NMA); new boundary details for the approved 73-bedroom care home off Kilsby Drive (2026/3695/NMA)
• Daventry: changes to the approved Cummins building on Royal Oak Way South, including removing a mezzanine and reconfiguring parking and solar panels (2026/3265/NMA)
• Brackley: signs for a new retail pod at Sainsbury’s, Wellington Road (2026/3827/ADV)
• Northampton: roof solar panels at Pets at Home, Firs Avenue (2026/3638/PA); a storage unit behind the Engine Shed at the University of Northampton’s Waterside Campus (2026/3304/FULL)
• Thenford: new roof coverings for St Mary’s Church, replacing the former lead roofs of the nave and aisles and an asbestos tower roof (2026/3412/FULL)

The routine items

Most of the list is routine. Of the 89 entries:

• 32 are applications to discharge conditions on permissions already granted
• 19 are tree works: 14 in conservation areas and 5 under tree preservation orders
• 5 are non-material amendments to approved schemes
• 2 are consultations from Cherwell District Council on logistics schemes at Baynards Green, just over the Oxfordshire border, where West Northamptonshire is a consultee

What it means for you

• To comment, open the application from the table and use the council’s online form. The register shows the comment deadline for each one.
• Comments must be about planning matters, such as traffic, design, overlooking or flooding. They are published and cannot be kept confidential.
